1964 Gibson EB2 Bass
1964 Gibson EB2 Bass
This is a beautiful example with a lovely worn finish with lots of patina.
The neck too is in great shape and shows a headstock repair from around 30 years ago and has shown no signs of movement since. It’s a rock solid repair with dowel fittings and its very well done indeed. The fretboard is in great shape and the original frets have plenty of life left in them.
Electrically everything looks correct and there has been a 1964 EB3 pick up installed sometime in its life. Its wired in correctly and sounds wonderful.
This bass has a phenomenal solid and full tone.
Introduced alongside the ES-335 in 1959, the EB-2 was touted as "Gibson's biggest bass invention" and stayed in the catalogue until 1972 with a brief hiatus in 1963.
